Harper Trends: Building in Public

A space where design meets meaning. Discovering and creating products that bring a touch of warmth and good design into everyday life.

Harper Trends: Building in Public

Harper Trends started as something small between me and my daughter, Harper. She was drawn to simple, beautiful things, and I wanted to show her how ideas turn into real products, brands, and eventually a business. What began as a shared hobby has become a functioning platform built with Lovable, where we explore design, curation, and the basics of running a digital venture.

On the technical side, Harper Trends is structured like a modern micro-project: fast to build, easy to extend, and built with clean components. Lovable helped us assemble the foundations quickly: layout, product pages, filtering, search, affiliate integrations, and future-ready sections for custom products. Behind the simple interface is a setup designed to be reliable, maintainable, and scale in small steps as we grow.

What We Focus On

Here’s what we focus on:

  • Finding and evaluating well-designed products with clear criteria
  • Building a clean, functional website using Lovable’s component architecture
  • Managing affiliate integrations with proper tracking and analytics
  • Preparing for future collections including items we design or customize ourselves
  • Learning the business side together: revenue, commissions, and the basics of ARR

The Business Model

The business model is intentional. Harper Trends works on affiliate commissions. When someone discovers a product through our site and buys it, we earn a small percentage. It’s simple, transparent, and a great way to teach Harper how a digital business can generate income without compromising integrity.

Learning Beyond School

More importantly, it gives us a way to talk about things she won’t learn in school: how revenue works, what recurring income looks like, why metrics matter, how brands earn trust, and what it means to build something that can grow over time. It’s a hands-on introduction to entrepreneurship through something fun and meaningful.

Every product featured on Harper Trends is something we’ve researched, tested, or genuinely liked. If it doesn’t meet our standards for design, functionality, and value, it doesn’t go on the site. That rule stays, no matter how the project evolves.
